Guildhall Orientation!

Well Cohort 15 had the first half of our orientation on friday… it was a blast! There were a few speeches (which were actually pretty entertaining, the head of our program is a great speaker) and then we got our souped up, super awesome, top of the line alienware computers along with a bamboo tablet (not the best… I’m thinking I will upgrade to a cintique), a usb Xbox controller, our guildhall C15 t-shirts, and alienware backpacks… it was like Christmas day in August! After all the goodie distribution we went to the BBQ that had been prepared for us in the next building over. It was lovely, there are lots of awesome people in C15 and I can’t wait to get to know all of them.

Last night was the welcome party that the older Cohorts decided to throw for us and it was pretty epic. I can’t wait for the rest of orientation tomorrow. We get our student ids (I know it’s silly but I love getting ids hehe) and have our first class- Art creation 1!

Speaking of classes… here is my schedule for module A (the next 8 weeks)

Monday:

9:30-12:30: Game Studies I

This course provides students in all areas of specialization a foundation in the theory and practice of game analysis and design, with an emphasis on analysis of game genres and lexicon, history of games and play, psychology of gameplay, and game theory. Students participate in lecture/discussion, case study, and individual/small group assignments.

2:00-5:00: Art Creation for Games I

This course provides a foundation in the tools, techniques, and production methods for creating 2D game art, including modeling, texturing, and animating.

Tuesday:

9:30-12:30: Game Design I

This course explores the fundamentals of video game design and teamwork. It provides a foundational framework and language for game design discussion. The class is heavily participation based where students explore video game design by analyzing and deconstructing existing games, discussing current trends in video game design and participating in team-based class workshops.

2:00-5:00: Drawing I

This course focuses on the development of fundamental drawing skills, emphasizing observational skills and conceptual development. Students primarily draw from life and from objects, supplemented by outside assignments. Emphasis is placed on use of materials, analysis of form, and concepts of light, space, and surface.

Wednesday:

2:00-5:00: Art Creation I

Thursday:

Friday:

I’m back from Cozumel!

I’m back! Well dear readers, I’m back from Cozumel! The trip was so very lovely… It included the following: A STAMP IN MY PASSPORT, beautiful resort on the beach, swim up bar with unlimited drinks (the mojitos were fabulous!), an hour massage at an AAAMAZING spa, dolphins, stingrays, and all kinds of beautiful sea life, crystal clear turquoise coloured water, midnight walks on the beaches, para-sailing, snorkelling, delish drinks that were a yard tall, feasting on a fresh lobster tail as long as my forearm (I could barely finish it!), Tequila factory tour and tasting, exploring ancient Mayan ruins, shopping in quaint mexican shops (I found a beeeautiful peacock coloured, hippy looking silk dress that I LOVE), lots of beautiful romantic moments with Mr. Blue-Eyes, plenty of laughter and good conversation with his family. It was so wonderful…like a dream. We spent a few days on either end of the trip at his family’s home in the Woodlands, which was also very nice. I have to say one of my favorite parts was the Mayan ruins. The whole place had a very sacred aura around it. After exploring much of the ruins with his family, Mr Blue Eyes and I ended up splitting away from them and went to hike off into the jungle to see the last (and furthest away) site in the complex… It was SO worth the 15 min walk as it was the largest ruin we had seen, a large Pyramid. I reaaally wanted to leave an offering at the top, and since nobody was anywhere near, we decided to risk climbing it. It was awesome and touching. At the top I found a hawk feather (which is now on my altar) and we left several precious things in return. Wonderful. Thank you Ixchel. And now, here I am in Temple again, making preparations for school and the move. I just finished all my loan stuff (thank GOODNESS!) and now I’ve just got to pack up my stuff for the move this coming Sunday! I’m really excited…I can’t WAIT to have a fairly permanent place to live for a little while. 5 more days, and then I’ll be in Plano and only 3 weeks till I start school! Woooohooo!

And we’re off…

To 65+ acres and 3 waterfront lots in the Texas hill country for 4 days of sun, swimming, late night talks on the dock, amazing food, and contemplation. It will be wonderful. Hope yall have a great weekend too! I’m not sure if I’ll have internet, so it’s up in the air if I will be writing blog entries…

I feel like I’ve been living out of a suitcase…

…for about half a year. Hmmm maybe that is because I have! It’s always packing, unpacking, washing clothes, packing, unpacking, washing clothes… and on and on. It’s not really THAT bad, I’m just looking forward to having a place to settle down again. A place I can sleep in every night, have friends over, cook, grow plants, and decorate. An address I can give people so that we can write letters back and forth. A home. I’m an adventurer for sure, but I do like having a homebase

All that to say: I’m washing clothes and packing for 4 1/2 days at the lakehouse in Kingsland (with Mama, Nicole, Christy, and Abby), 1 day in Austin, 5 days in Cozumel, and a most likely a few days in the Woodlands with Mr Blue-Eyes and his family.

After that I’m back to Temple, then to Lake Jackson (where I grew up and where my grandparents are), back to the Lakehouse for a spelunking adventure and FINALLY to Plano August 1st! YIKES… I think I didn’t realize how all over the place my schedule was till I wrote it out just now! It’s ok, I love road trips and traveling. Plus it’s all so exciting!

Life is such an adventure…I love it!

I was talkin to Mr. Blue-Eyes over text the other night about jobs and how I would like to see him doing something he loved. He responded with this:

“…Feel like I’m workin on it cause you and you alone feed my soul. The rest is just business and I don’t ever mean for it to follow me home. And you to me are home. A place that I can be me and want to be. I love you and plan on doing so and makin cash no matter where we are. Emphasis on where WE are! Dream sweet my love.”

*sigh* Oh my goodness, I love this man so much! I am so happy being with him

I just finished registering for classes! Here is what I’ll be studying for module 1:

Monday: Game Study I, Art Creation I

Tuesday: Game Design I, Drawing I

Wednesday: Art Creation I

Thursday: Game Study I, Drawing I

Friday: Game Design I, Art Creation I

Each class is 3 hours long and they really load you up with homework, so I should be super busy… I CANT WAIT!!!! Oh yeah… and everything is digital, so no more messy art hands for me. (I can finally keep my nails pretty hehe)

with the guildies!!! I’m taking my sister Nicole with me so she can get out of her head and away from the rough patch she’s going through. Please send good energy her way. (Plus, I get to show her where I’ll be living and what the Plano area looks like!)

So here’s a little of what has been/is going on with me:

1) I got back from Vipassana. It was soooo wonderful. It really is like a detox for the mind/soul… I got a lot of garbage out of mine, and I feel GREAT! Yall really should give it a try, it really is a excellent way to come out of your miseries.

2) I found an apartment in Plano! It’s a 3br and located at the Domaine Apartments which are reeeeallly swanky and close enough to school that I could walk (if my unreliable car decides to stop working). We will have a poolside view and the place is just HUGE (1524 sq feet!). I’ll be moving August 1 which means I’ll have plenty of time to settle in before school starts on August 16.

3) I’m taking my first dance class EVER tomorrow morning at 10am! Really excited and a little bit nervous about it, though I’m glad Abby talked me into it….I think I’ll have fun!

4) I’m going to be in a bikini every weekend this month! This weekend we are celebrating the 4th of July and the 30th Anniversary of the Lake House in Kingsland, TX. Next weekend I’ll be at Schlitterbahn (My dad gets free tickets from his work for park entry AND food! Woot!) The weekend after that I’ll be back at the Lakehouse with my Mom (and hopefully my siblings). The week after that I’m going to an all inclusive (drinks, food, ect..) resort in COZUMEL with Mr. Blue Eyes and his family!!! Laying on the beach with a pina colada, swimming with dolphins, and seeing ancient Mayan ruins? YES PLEASE!!!

5) Welby’s 9th Birthday on the 28th. SO HAPPY she’s alive! <3

I have a lot of other things to do as well, but I’m not going to bother yall with the boring details (ok… PREDATORS movie on the 9th!!!!! FUCK YEAH, I’ve been waiting all year for this!!!!)

BELTON (June 12, 2010) – Belton police and Belton firefighters have roped off an area on the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor Campus Saturday evening.

An initial report said a possible body was found in a pond in the area of 11th Avenue and College Street

A Justice of the Peace was called to the scene.

An UMHB official told News 10, a student has been confirmed dead. No foul play is suspected at this time.

News 10 is at the scene and will bring an update throughout the night.

THATS MY FUCKING SCHOOL! Waaaay too close for comfort. I’m crossing my fingers it wasn’t someone I knew.
